Paradise Cove Suites

Two one-bedroom casitas on a soft white sand beach, with a natural pool in the shallows and a 600 square foot gazebo built for long, slow dinners.

Two Airbnb Guest Favorites - 4.97 and 4.93 across 140 stays · Superhost for five years

The house

Room to spread out

Paradise Cove sits on what may be the best residential beach on Vieques - soft white sand, a natural pool in the shallows, and most days, almost nobody on it.

Two self-contained casitas, one upstairs and one down. Each is a one-bedroom with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and lanai, so two couples can share the property without sharing a wall.

Between the lawn and the water sits a 600 square foot beachfront gazebo under a timber-beamed roof, with hammocks, lounge chairs, dining tables and a sit-up bar facing the sea. It is the reason most guests never quite get around to leaving the property.

The beach itself runs more than a mile, uninhabited, with a reef close enough to snorkel from the sand. Wild Paso Fino horses wander down to graze on it most mornings. Between the casitas and the water sits a garden of more than 500 flowering plants and 20 palms, lit at night.

The suites

Two suites, booked separately

Each suite is self-contained with its own entrance, kitchen and lanai, and each keeps its own calendar. Book one, or take both for a group of six.

Sun Bay

Downstairs suite

$325 / night

King bed 1 bath Sleeps 3 Own entrance Full kitchen Garden lanai $150 cleaning

The ground-floor casita, in terracotta tile throughout. Its lanai opens straight onto the lawn, which makes it the shorter walk to the gazebo, the natural pool and the sand - the easier of the two if stairs are a consideration, and the one to book if you would rather not carry a bag up a staircase.

Upstairs suite

$335 / night

The upper casita, reached by the blue exterior staircase, and finished in reclaimed-look plank rather than tile. The extra story lifts the balcony above the planting, so you look out over the garden and the gazebo to open water rather than through the hedge at it. Guests who have stayed in both tend to mention the view from up here first.

The patio is everything. Steps away from a beach that was semi-private, with a nice shallow pool for soaking and floating. Quiet, clean, modern fans and A/C. Especially if you are looking for a little distance from the busy and lovely town of Isabel II.

Beautiful sand and clear blue water, perfect for taking a stroll and for collecting sea glass. We enjoyed watching the horses wandering by, and had a good laugh our first night when we heard one whinnying outside our window.

Absolutely gorgeous view right on a beautiful beach. The apartment is spacious, clean, upscale - which can be hard to find in a beach location. The grounds are gorgeous and the views from the balcony and gazebo are calming and stunning.

Great location right on the water and away from the hustle of town. The water is great to swim in - it has natural barriers that made it great for kids to swim. The place had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were a breeze.

We recommend renting the Jeep directly from the host - it makes pick-up and drop-off so easy. Having the cabana right on the beach was amazing.

True serenity, waking up to the ocean every morning. We loved having our own private entrance on the beach. Everything was perfect, from the towels to the linens to the decorations, and the outdoor area with hammocks and tables right in front of the beach makes a great space for family and guests.

Getting here

You will want a vehicle. That is the whole point.

Paradise Cove is out past the edge of town, near the wildlife refuge. That is exactly why the beach in front of it is empty and why guests keep using the word peaceful - but it does mean this is not the property you walk to dinner from.

Roads on this side of the island are rutted in places, so a high-clearance vehicle earns its keep.

  • About five minutes’ drive to Isabel Segunda - the ferry, the shops and most of the restaurants
  • About twenty minutes to Esperanza, on the south coast
  • Taxis run, and there is an app - but book evening taxis ahead, because they get scarce after dark
  • Guests who add one of our Jeeps say the best part is not arranging it separately: it can be waiting at the airport when you land, or at the house

If walking to restaurants matters more to you than quiet, Oceano is the one in town.

House details & policies

Safety equipment

  • Smoke alarm
  • Carbon monoxide alarm
  • Fire extinguisher
  • First aid kit
  • Private, fully fenced yard

Please know before you arrive

  • There are exterior security cameras on the property
  • The property sits directly on open water
  • The natural pool is the sea, so it moves with the tide
  • The road is close enough to hear - worth knowing if you are a light sleeper

The cameras are on the exterior only and are not monitored - they are there as a deterrent. There are none inside either casita. Nobody is watching the beach or the natural pool either, so children should be supervised in the water as they would be anywhere on this coast.

Can the suites be booked individually?

Yes - Sun Bay and Media Luna book separately and keep their own calendars, so one may be free when the other is not. If you want both for a group of six, message us and we will coordinate the dates.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM, Atlantic Standard Time.

You will not be hunting for a lockbox. Our Property Manager contacts you before you travel to agree your arrival time, then meets you in person to hand over the keys and walk you through the property - how everything works, where things are, and their recommendations for the island.

How does payment work?

Your payment schedule depends on how far ahead you book. The total is the same whichever one applies - the only difference is when the money lands.

When you book How you pay
More than 90 days ahead Four payments. 25% to confirm, then 25% at 90, 60 and 30 days before arrival. No single payment is more than a quarter.
30 to 90 days ahead Two payments. 50% to confirm, then the balance 30 days before arrival.
Inside 30 days Paid in full to confirm.

The confirming payment is due within two banking days and holds your dates. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Tax is 11% - 7% Puerto Rico room tax plus 4% Vieques municipal tax - applied to the nightly rate. The cleaning fee is not taxed.

Cancellation policy

Ask about moving your dates before you cancel. If the dates you want are open, we would rather reschedule you than lose you. The rate for the new dates applies, and a move is not a cancellation - none of the refund tiers below come into it.

If you do need to cancel, how much comes back depends on how much notice you give, counted from the day we receive it. It is the same whichever payment schedule applies, and the $50 cancellation fee comes off whatever is refunded.

Notice we receive Refunded to you
More than 90 days before arrival100% of your total
60 to 90 days75%
30 to 60 days50%
Inside 30 daysNo refund

We will always try to re-sell your dates. Whatever we re-sell comes back to you, less a $50 cancellation fee. If the chart already gives you a larger refund, you keep the larger one.

You will never be billed for cancelling. A refund can only ever return money you have actually paid, so if you have paid less than the chart would return, you simply get all of it back.

Is the gazebo shared?

The gazebo, garden and beach frontage are shared between the two suites. Each suite has its own private lanai.

Do you allow pets?

Small pets are welcome in both casitas, with approval. Tell us about your animal when you inquire and we will confirm before you book. The fenced yard makes it easy.

There is a one-time $50 pet fee, added to your booking like the cleaning fee. Assistance animals are always welcome and are not charged.

Both casitas are non-smoking. Children are welcome, and the ground-floor suite suits anyone who would rather avoid stairs.

Where does everyone sleep?

Each casita sleeps three: a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. One bathroom, en-suite, with a full tiled shower.

Book both and the property takes six - two separate front doors, two kitchens, two bathrooms, and the gazebo and garden in common. That is the arrangement most groups of four to six end up choosing.

What else is provided?

For the beach - towels, chairs and an umbrella, plus sun loungers and hammocks in the gazebo. No need to buy any of it on arrival.

In the casita - washer and dryer, air conditioning and ceiling fans, room-darkening shades, cotton linens, extra pillows and blankets, hair dryer, iron, wardrobe, TV and Wi-Fi.

Outside - a BBQ grill and utensils, an outdoor dining area, an outdoor shower, and free parking on the property. Housekeeping during your stay can be arranged if you want it.

What is in the kitchen?

A full chef's kitchen in each casita: granite counters, 42-inch cabinets, a full-size stainless refrigerator, a gas range and oven, microwave, toaster oven and dishwasher, plus chef-grade knives, pots and pans and everything else you need to cook the fish you bought that morning. There is a charcoal grill on the property, and an optional laundry service if you want it.

Where exactly are you?

PR-200 KM 2.8, Vieques, Puerto Rico 00765 - on the stretch of coast between the Media Luna and Sun Bay beaches the two casitas are named after. Parking is on site and free.

It is out past the edge of town, near the wildlife refuge. That is what keeps the beach in front of it empty, and it is the reason to come - but plan on driving to restaurants rather than walking. Roads on this side of the island are rutted in places, so a Jeep or another high-clearance vehicle is worth having. If you would rather walk to dinner, Oceano is the one in town.

Our second property sits minutes away, directly on the shoreline - white stucco, a cocktail pool and balconies hanging over the sea. It keeps its own calendar, so it is often open when this one is not.
